Getting Started

How do I create a vault?

After signing up and logging in, go to your dashboard and click the "Create Vault" button. Give your vault a name and description, then start uploading your markdown files and folders.

What file types can I upload?

ARCHIVE supports markdown files (.md) and common attachment types including PDFs, images (PNG, JPG, GIF), presentations, and other document formats. Markdown files are displayed with full rendering support, while attachments can be downloaded or viewed inline when supported.

Can I upload entire folders?

Yes! ARCHIVE supports folder uploads. Simply drag and drop a folder from your computer, and we'll preserve the folder structure and automatically link markdown files to their referenced attachments.

Sharing & Collaboration

How do I share a vault with others?

Navigate to your vault settings and use the "Members" section to invite others via email. You can set read permissions at the folder level to control exactly what each member can access.

Can I control what others see in my vault?

Absolutely! ARCHIVE provides granular folder-level permissions. When inviting members, you can specify which folders they have access to, ensuring sensitive content remains private.

How do I accept a vault invitation?

When someone shares a vault with you, you'll receive an email invitation with a link. Click the link, and the vault will appear in your "Shared Vaults" section on your dashboard.

Storage & Limits

What are the storage limits?

Storage limits vary by account type. You can view your current usage and available storage in your account dashboard. The quota display shows both your total usage and per-vault usage.

What happens if I exceed my storage limit?

If you reach your storage limit, you'll need to delete some files or upgrade your account to continue uploading. You'll receive warnings as you approach your limit, and existing content will remain accessible even if you're over quota.

Are there file size limits?

Yes, individual files have size limits to ensure optimal performance. The current limit is displayed during upload. If you need to upload larger files, consider splitting them or contact support for assistance.

Account Management

How do I change my password?

Go to your profile settings and look for the "Security" or "Password" section. You can update your password there. For security, you'll need to enter your current password.

Can I change my username?

Yes, you can update your username in your profile settings. Keep in mind that changing your username may affect how others find and share content with you.

How do I delete my account?

Account deletion can be initiated from your account settings. Please note that deleting your account will permanently remove all your vaults and data. This action cannot be undone. Consider downloading your data before deletion.

Can I export my data?

Yes! You can download your vaults and files at any time. Navigate to a vault and use the download options to export your content. All markdown files and attachments can be exported in their original formats.

Can I customize how my markdown looks?

Yes! ARCHIVE supports custom CSS styling for markdown rendering. You can upload your own CSS file in the vault settings to personalize the appearance of your notes.

Does ARCHIVE work with Obsidian?

Absolutely! ARCHIVE is designed to work seamlessly with Obsidian vaults. You can upload your entire Obsidian vault folder, and we'll preserve internal links, attachments, and folder structures.

What markdown features are supported?

ARCHIVE supports standard markdown syntax including headers, lists, links, images, code blocks, tables, and more. We also support LaTeX equations and other advanced markdown features.

Security & Privacy

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We use industry-standard security practices and store your data on Supabase's secure infrastructure. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

Who can see my vaults?

By default, only you can see your vaults. You have complete control over sharing and can invite specific people via email. Shared users can only access the folders you've explicitly granted them permission to view.

Can I revoke access to shared vaults?

Yes, you can remove members from your vault at any time through the vault settings. Once removed, they will immediately lose access to all content in that vault.
